Hosting and security

Pages are delivered through Cloudflare and served from the site’s own server. To deliver pages, prevent abuse and troubleshoot, these services process IP addresses, requested pages, timestamps and browser information.

Analytics (Umami)

The site uses self-hosted Umami to count page views, referrers and a few button clicks, so I can see which content is useful. Umami sets no cookies, respects your browser’s Do Not Track setting, strips URL query strings and fragments, and receives no search terms, tool inputs or file contents. The data stays on the site’s own server and is not shared with third parties.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

This site uses (or plans to use) Google AdSense to show ads. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies or similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

Advertising cookies are set and read by Google and its partners; this site cannot read their contents. For how Google uses this data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

You can control personalised advertising:

• Turn off personalised ads in Google Ads Settings;
• Opt out of some third-party vendors’ personalised ads at aboutads.info; visitors in Europe can also use youronlinechoices.eu;
• Block or delete third-party cookies in your browser. You may still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.

Once ads are enabled, visitors from the European Economic Area, the UK and Switzerland will see a Google-certified consent message before ads load, and can choose whether to allow advertising cookies and personalised ads.

Ads are kept separate from editorial content and labelled, and do not affect test conclusions. See the commercial disclosure.

Data stored in your browser

Your theme preference and temporary tool selections stay in your browser and are not sent to the site.

Email and external links

If you email me, your address and message are used only to reply. External sites handle data under their own policies. I do not sell visitor data.
